Gay People On Youtube!

So whats the hot topic this month on the "tubes"? Gay people and how they have to deal with homophobia in their comments section.

I know first hand what its like to deal with homophobia, I have dealt with it my entire adult life. I use to be very thin skinned about it and I would even be the first to stand up @ the smallest sign of it. I learned a long time ago that not every comment with the term "gay" in it is a sign of homophobia. Pop culture has allowed a lot of changes in dialect, words that mean one thing can mean a dozen other things. Unfortunately for us, the word "gay" has been changed not only to describe a homosexual man or a happy person, but its also been changed into an insult intended to belittle a person. For the gay community this is hard to understand, I mean is the word "gay" even suppose to be insulting when referring to a homosexual?

If someone came up to me and said "You're gay!" I would feel as if they just learned how to properly observe someones behavior. I wouldn't consider that an insult @ all. Most of the negative comments found on these videos are pointing out the obvious, that isn't offensive to me. Now lets take it a step further, the word "fag" has been used in both an insulting and endearing way. People that don't like gay men have used the word fag to describe them, as an insult. When gay men get together they use the word loosely, as a sign of brotherhood. This is the same dilemma as the African-American community and the use of some derogatory terms within their own culture.

So where do we draw the line? Do we stay its ok for this person to say it but its not ok for the other person? Who makes up their mind about this? How does the law feel about it? These are all questions we need to ask ourselves.
